The UMD synchronized skating team first formed in the fall of 2008. It was created to offer figure skaters a way to continue skating through college while being part of a competitive team sport. It also gives students a way to escape the stress of college, stay physically fit and meet other students while focusing on one common goal: the team. Our synchronized skating team currently competes at the open collegiate level, with an aspiration of moving up to the collegiate level in the near future. Athletes on the team come from various skating levels and backgrounds. During the season the team competes at various competitions in the Midwest including the Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships. They also perform exhibitions during UMD Women's hockey games and guest perform at local ice shows.
